The Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS) “Applied Innovations & Digital Technologies in Healthcare” is an innovative program that is fully aligned with international standards and requirements in the field of postgraduate studies. Graduation from the IPPS awards a master’s degree in Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare (MSc in Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare).

The decision to establish this graduate program was made after recognizing and identifying health scientists’ increased need for education and specialization. These needs arise due to the rapid development of new technologies, the increased demands of patients and healthcare providers, the recent pandemic, and the demographic aging of the population. Recent studies highlight changes in patient profiles, the urgent need to serve them with innovative approaches, and the necessity for healthcare professionals and providers to modernize to keep pace with societal advancements.

The MSc “Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare” of the Department of Public and Community Health and the Department of Information and Computer Engineering of the University of West Attica focuses on graduate education on issues related to modern innovations and digital technologies for the modernization of healthcare professionals. The MSc and its modules represent a scientifically balanced combination of knowledge in exploring various challenges (e.g., increased patient/citizen demands, misinformation via the Internet, using new technologies for effective communication, addressing contemporary needs due to the pandemic, maintaining distances, serving remote patients, using effective and innovative methods and technologies for patient service, communication and time management, etc.) that modern healthcare professionals face and solving them by exploiting the latest technologies, methodologies, and applications.

The highly interdisciplinary education provided by this proposed MSc covers a broad field of knowledge, aiming to acquire knowledge and skills for modernizing healthcare professionals’ knowledge concerning adopting and effectively using and managing the latest innovations and digital technologies.

The MSc “Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare” is a dynamic program that continually evolves to keep pace with international academic and research developments, as reflected in the ongoing research and related scientific activities of all its staff members. The primary goal of the program, the desire of all the instructors, and my personal choice and desire, is for students, in addition to the knowledge and skills they will gain from the courses, to cultivate a scientific way of thinking about the issues related to the graduate program and beyond.

All Professors of the MSc, as well as the other teaching and administrative staff, will be at your disposal during your studies to teach you, guide you, support you, and solve any problems and questions you may have so that you become the next generation of specialized health scientists who will innovate by leveraging digital technologies to address contemporary health needs, shaping a new reality effectively.

I wish you a good and productive academic year!
