The Postgraduate Program

The M.Sc. program ‘Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare’ was established to pioneer the education of healthcare professionals in order to create the new generation of digital healthcare professionals who can fully exploit new technologies for the benefit of both patients and healthcare professionals. Digital technologies and innovations encompass a wide range of healthcare services, including remote healthcare services, care, guidance, rehabilitation, diagnosis, monitoring, and smart homes. Digital technology services include the convergence of healthcare systems, digital media, network technologies, mobile devices, sensors, and wearable devices. By using new technologies, collected data can generate valuable insights and support decision-making and research, while providing healthcare professionals and services with information to support the delivery of care in the most convenient way. Real-life case studies from healthcare and caregiving services are analyzed within the framework of the M.Sc. program.

 

The M.Sc. program examines the traditional approach in relation to the profile of the modern patient and highlights the current needs that require the modernization of services in health sciences. The M.Sc. program provides a flexible curriculum that offers academically rigorous interdisciplinary education at the postgraduate level in the fields of digital technology, innovation, communication, and management in the healthcare sector. The courses provide an overview of the main topics and discussions related to the thematic of the postgraduate program and are aligned with the most contemporary teaching techniques and methods. The education model followed in the M.Sc. program combines both academic and professional training, according to the standards of postgraduate studies of the most reputable universities abroad. Graduates of the M.Sc. program will be able to meet the demands of demanding work environments where high-level academic knowledge, advanced research skills, and specialized practical experience in the field are required.

Scope

The strategic objective of the Interdepartmental MSc Program, titled “Applied Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare,” is to provide specialized knowledge to graduates of Greek and equivalent foreign universities who are currently working or intending to work in healthcare organizations. The aim is to modernize their profession by adopting contemporary technological advancements and innovations in the field.

 

The scope of the MSc Program is to equip healthcare professionals with knowledge and skills related to digital health and modern communication through both traditional and non-traditional means. This specific postgraduate program aims to create a new generation of digital healthcare professionals who can fully leverage new technologies for the benefit of both the patient and the healthcare provider.

Objectives

The main objectives of this Interdepartmental MSc Program are as follows:

  • To educate and develop specialized and competent scientists and researchers at the postgraduate level who will promote health and effectively contribute to addressing health challenges based on their theoretical, laboratory, and practical training.
  • To develop analytical, strategic, and creative thinking skills, as well as planning, organizing, and change management skills, in order to create a new generation of scientists capable of analyzing new challenges, utilizing new technologies, and simultaneously developing innovative services and approaches in a constantly changing environment.
  • To develop skills in critical analysis of data and information available for decision-making in rapidly changing environments.
  • To understand organizational challenges and policy-making in a dynamic and evolving complex environment.
  • To acquire skills for managing and effectively using innovative technologies.
  • To promote collaboration between the Academic Community and various healthcare providers (e.g., hospitals, rehabilitation centers, etc.) for the acceptance, use, and development of innovative approaches to provide quality healthcare.
  • To support remote populations and areas with special and/or urgent healthcare needs.
  • To conduct research in the scientific fields of the program and support it through the acquisition of technical and research knowledge, analytical skills for future academic advancement, and the completion of doctoral theses in the aforementioned scientific fields.
  • To provide academic knowledge for the training of healthcare professionals who will meet the needs of modern society for high-quality healthcare services, aiming to ensure criteria of quality, efficiency, and effectiveness for the benefit of the patient.
  • To promote effective collaboration with interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams.
  • To highlight and implement modern values and practices in the design and implementation of innovative methodologies and protocols in the field of healthcare.
  • To connect the MSc with the real needs of today’s society.
  • To methodically and objectively evaluate new technologies and innovations in the field of healthcare and their impacts.
  • To acquire advanced skills with the aim of creating the new digital healthcare professional.

Graduates of the Interdepartmental MSc Program will be trained in designing, developing, and implementing innovative actions and solutions to advance their profession and enhance the services provided in the healthcare sector. Specifically, graduates will be able to:

 

  • Analyze complex problems and formulate innovative strategies, design research protocols, and implementation plans to promote their application, thereby increasing social benefit and reducing healthcare system costs.
  • Evaluate data and modern technologies and formulate evidence-based alternative policy proposals aimed at providing value-added services for the patient.
  • Provide documented and quality support to the organization in which they will serve, both in terms of designing and implementing innovative actions and in terms of monitoring and continuous improvement of conditions related to healthcare provision.
